Type Locality and Naming

The type section is located at Shanxiuling, southwest of Kaishantun Town, Yanji County, Jilin. It was named by the Regional Geological Survey Party of Jilin in 1963.


Lithology and Thickness

Limestone. Dominated by gray-white and dark-gray thin-bedded crystalline limestone, siliceous band-bearing crystalline limestone and clayey limestone, intercalated with tuffaceous sandstone, thickness >517 m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Uncertain: Its relationship with the underlying stratum is unclear

Upper contact

Disconformable contact with the overlying Lower Permian Dasuangou Fm

Regional extent

Exposed only around Shanxiuling, Kaishantun Town, Yanji County and Miaoling of Wangqing County

Fusulinids Pseudoschwagerina sp., Rugosofusulina prisca, Quasifusulina cf. cayeuxi, Triticites ohioensis, T. lalaotuensis, T. simplex, T. cf. laxus, Pseudofusulina nelsoni, Schwagerina sp., etc.; Brachiopods Chonetes latesinuata, Plicatifera shanxiulingensis, Krotovia shanxiulingensis, Dictyoclostus uralicus, D. gruenewaldti, Stenoscisma mutabilis, S. yanjiensis, S. meyeri tetraplicata, Spirifer incertus, S. jilinensis, Neospirifer sp., Brachythyrina rectangula, Martinia uralica, M. timanica, Martiniopsis convexa, Punctospirifer sp., etc.
